One of the most important things that you can do for hospice is to share your experience with others. After years of providing healthcare services in this community, people continue to have a misunderstanding of what hospice care is all about and hesitate to use hospice services. Interim Healthcare Foundation could not exist without the support and good will of the community. Here are a few suggestions on how you can help hospice care. Thanks for asking!
SHARE: The most positive way for others to hear about hospice is through you. Let your physician know how hospice has touched you, so they will know how hospice will benefit other patients. Talk about hospice care to your friends, neighbors, church groups, and employers.
VOLUNTEER: Everyone has talents they can share. Interim Healthcare Foundation needs your talents. Volunteers perform a varied, valuable service for patients and staff. During the first year after the death of a loved one, healing and decisions are faced, for this reason, we recommend that families do not volunteer for hospice until after the first anniversary of their loved ones death. After the first year, we encourage you to consider volunteer opportunities.
INVITE: If you know of a civic organization, club or church group that would like to have a guest speaker, please call us with a contact name. We'll set up a speaker to attend the event.
Opportunities are limited only by the imagination when it comes to helping our hospice services serve those facing end-of-life in our community.
DONATE: A hospice Volunteer Coordinator or Chaplain can assist you in identifying items that otherwise our families would not be able to purchase. In a family devastated by a terminal illness, medical bills quickly accumulate and everyday items such as groceries, school items, winter coats, etc, tend to fall to the bottom of the list.
Interim Healthcare Foundation is here to serve the whole family, not just the patient. It is the family that is impacted by the terminal illness and struggles to maintain a sense of normalcy and routine.
If you have an idea that is not listed, please call our office at (806)722-1968.
CONTRIBUTE: Financially through Donations, Memorial gifts, Wills and Planned Giving.
Part of our mission is to provide services to our patients and their families regardless of their ability to pay. Even though Medicare/Medicaid and most insurance pay for hospice services, Interim Healthcare Foundation cherishes the donations and memorials from our friends in the community. This ensures that hospice services are available to everyone when needed.
Interim Healthcare Foundation hosts and organizes several events throughout the year as part of its fundraising and community outreach activities. These events include golf scrambles, Special Event Fundraisers, Raffles and just good ole’ Texas fundraising events. The Foundation hosts several educational seminars and workshops.
Volunteers are always welcome to serve as event chairs or on organizing committees, to assist in the foundation office with data entry, invitation assembly or with other mailings. Assistance is also welcome with registering guests at events, serving as greeters, and with a variety of other activities or clerical duties. You may even have special skills, such as in computer technology or marketing that you would like to offer. As a volunteer, you’ll enjoy the fun and laughter with staff and others, and you’ll be helping to support hospice care in your community.
Please call us and let us know about your interests. For more information about volunteer opportunities, feel free to use to contact us by visiting our contact page or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (806) 722-1968.
